Portland will once again host Shen Yun Performing Arts on Jan. 21 through Jan. 23 in an all-new production at the Keller Auditorium.
The New York-based performing arts company has become popular the world over since its inception in 2006, and Portland is no exception.
“In the modern world, a lot of us chase success and money. And we forget about our peace and values. So it’s a good reminder,” said Elad Nadler.
“Shen Yun in and of itself is divine, peace, kindness, and they’re trying to basically share that with the world, without all of the violence,” said Linda Crumb.
The dancers’ flexibility and skill impressed experts of other dance styles.
“The synchronization, they did it all together. It’s beautiful. I have watched so many shows around the world, and I will watch this show again because of how beautiful and masterful the dancers are,” said ballet instructor Lena Kouznetsova.
The patented animated 3D backdrop amazed the audience.
Paul Lyman said, “I liked how they embraced the technology and brought that into the program. It was very seamless and the transitions were great. It really helped the story. It was very good.”
Last year’s Portland audience had nothing but praise and gratitude for everyone at Shen Yun.
“I was so happy to see that Shen Yun has brought their singers, traditional music, and instruments with them. It’s not just dance—they brought everything—like a bouquet of beautiful flowers. I really recommend it,” Ms. Kouznetsova said.
“You’ve inspired me and you touched my heart. And I just want to applaud all your time and efforts. Thank you for everything,” said Robby Mayer, a musician.
This year, as Shen Yun is set to perform in over 200 cities around the world and across five continents, the 2025 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet and a glorious treat for theatergoers.
