RIVERSIDE, Calif.—Art Delgado, an engineer, and Monica Cabral, a dental office manager, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts’ second show at the Fox Performing Arts Center on April 25.
Mr. Delgado thought everything was “really beautiful.”
The New York-based Shen Yun was founded in 2006 by elite Chinese artists who had fled the persecution of the communist party.
For 5,000 years, China’s civilization flourished under the shared belief that the divine will bless those who uphold traditional moral values. Tragically, within just a few decades of the communist party’s violent takeover, these beliefs were erased and replaced with atheism.
A dancer in her youth, Ms. Cabral happily agreed that classical Chinese dance was “very beautiful tonight.” Dating back thousands of years, it is one of the most athletic and expressive art forms in the world.
The ticket “was a gift from [Mr. Delgado] to me, and it was the best thing ever. I was very emotional when the shows first started. … I think the whole show is beautiful,” Ms. Cabral commented.
“I [was moved by] the performance, everything—the interpretation, the dance, the storyline—there were no words said, but we knew exactly what [the performers] were conveying. It was gorgeous. Very pretty.”
She also appreciated the performers’ message about upholding traditional values and striving to be good people. “I wish everything could still be the same, from [ancient times] to now—the kindness being spread, it was beautiful,” she said.
