SYDNEY—Wendy Gray is the head of languages at a local Girls High School, which has a large multicultural population, and was particularly interested to bring her high school students to see Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company at a special mid-week matinee session at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, Feb 23.
“We have a combination of students here, year 7 who are taking Asian literacy programs, we have students who are learning Chinese, we have students who are studying dance,” Ms. Gray said.
“Therefore we have students here coming from a combination of backgrounds, and reasons why they’re here.”
Ms. Gray was impressed with Shen Yun’s performance, saying “I’m just very happy to be here” after the show.
“I think it’s a very, very beautiful show to watch. I think the costuming is spectacular and the quality of the dancing, the synchronicity. It’s beautiful, absolutely beautiful.”
With dance students amongst the school group watching the quality of Shen Yun’s performance, Ms. Gray said the dancing in particular had been a highlight.
“The impact of the multiple dancers at the one time; the synchronicity between the dancers I think is beautiful.
“They’re very, very skilled, obviously very, very well-rehearsed, the timing, the precision is absolutely beautiful. The athletic acrobatic aspect of the dance is absolutely beautiful as well.”
Ms. Gray said she had been excited to see Shen Yun, and she was looking forward to hearing the girls’ reactions when they returned to school.
