AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company is leaving New Zealanders searching for words that adequately describe the perfection of the show.

The New York-based classical Chinese dance and music company delighted audiences again at Auckland’s ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre on Friday evening, Feb. 3.

“It was magnificent,” said Debbie Drake, a retired international television show exercise trainer. “Everyone should see this show. It is really phenomenal.”

Ms. Drake, who attended the show with David Gorena, was full of enthusiasm. She was delighted with the “precision” dancing and the wonderful stories that were told.

“The backdrops were outstanding and the costumes were just out of this world,” said the fitness guru. She commented that there was considerable artistic talent involved in the creation of the costumes.

The hundreds of hand-made costumes are representative of China’s ancient dynasties and ethnic groups portrayed in the dances.

“I recommend it to everybody,” she said adding that she would tell her friends in the United States to go and see it when it came to their city.

“It just floored me. It was just a masterpiece, a real masterpiece. I loved every minute of it and I’d come back and see it again.”

Mr. Gorena, who is also retired, was equally astounded by Shen Yun.

“Oh, it was fantastic. The performers were great and what a production,” he said.

He praised Shen Yun’s masters of ceremonies who gave a brief pre-performance description of each dance or musical presentation, in both English and Mandarin, as being very articulate.
