Raising the Debt Ceiling

Raising the Debt Ceiling

Raising the debt ceiling vote in Congress was the most uncaring and most harmful grandstanding of public trust seen in recent times. Congress was not looking out for the people who voted for them, they were more interested in themselves. The members of Congress know the money that was appropriated for Afghanistan (totaling BILLIONS of dollars) was not spent due to the collapse of that country. Instead of using that money to pay for what they claimed there was no money for, they were willing to place more debt on the taxpayer. The Democrats and Republicans should all be voted out of office for not following what they were elected for and what the electorate advocated—no more debt. It seems that showboating, fear tactics and complete lies are used to further the party’s platform. I thought that the people elected to the government were to carry out the electorate’s wishes and that they are not flunkers for the party. They are not supposed to pledge allegiance to the party but are supposed to work for the people.
