I second the opinion of John Alexander printed in the July 28, 2021, Readers’ Turn section [“Liberal Narrative’s Fine Print”]. There are few outlets for conservative opinion that aren’t subject to liberal censorship. The Epoch Times is one of those few. Unfortunately, it preaches to the choir. The people that most need to hear what you have to say don’t read this publication.
All of the major media outlets have been decidedly left-leaning for a very long time. More recently, they have ceased any attempt at balanced reporting of news and have limited their editorial offerings to half-truths and outright lies. It was not always so. Thirty-plus years ago I regularly submitted full-length conservative opinion pieces to the newspaper of record in a suburb of Philadelphia, the region I lived in at the time. Most of those were printed. Recently I submitted a conservative opinion piece to the newspaper of record in the Raleigh, N.C., area where I currently live. Based on the editor’s response and regular reading of their Opinion section, it became obvious that conservative opinion has a snowball’s chance in a pizza oven of publication in that paper.
I encourage you and your contributors to continue what you are doing. Readers like myself need that information. However, we need more. We need to understand how to use the truth that you publish to make our world better. It’s not enough for us to just know the truth. We need to participate in making the truth known to the myriad of people that are solely influenced by the propaganda spewed by major media. How do we do that?
I’ve considered starting a blog to add my own voice to the conservative narrative. But what good would it do in an age when anyone who dares to question the liberal narrative is in danger of censorship? Social media censored the president of the United States for constitutionally protected free speech that was counter to the liberal narrative. The same social media even censored a darling of liberal ideology, Naomi Wolf, when she dared to question mainstream left-leaning COVID-19 proclamations. So how does an unknown conservative blogger get a fair shake? How do any of us assist in getting the truth out to the majority of this nation that is inundated with half-truths and outright lies from major media, the deep state and the liberal political machine? Help us to do that.
