A woman from Teesside in the northeast part of England decided to use her lockdown time to revamp the exterior of her simple cream-shaded house, which was dated and worn. Now, the resulting elegant transformation is leaving people stunned.
Explaining her process, Ellie told The Epoch Times via email: “We originally looked at getting the windows spray-painted as this is a service a lot of decorators offer but we couldn’t justify spending thousands.”
However, after researching for months, Ellie found Frenchic Alfresco paint, which was receiving lots of great reviews online. Thus, she decided to take it upon herself to upgrade the house, which was already rendered.
Sharing the creative process of her lockdown project, Ellie said she didn’t do any preparation other than jet-washing the UPVC windows and doors.
She started off by painting her simple white door with a coat of smudge shade Frenchic Alfresco outdoor paint. Ellie tapped the door and admitted being a bit nervous; however, three coats after, the door looked like a brand-new one. Then, with the help of a borrowed ladder, Ellie painted the white windows and light on the wall to match the front door.
It took a period of two days to paint the windows and doors. Then the talented woman used two coats of Dulux Weathershield Ashen Matt Masonry paint to change her whole cream-shaded house exterior into white, giving it a chic look.
Ellie told The Epoch Times that after each coat, one has to wait for a period of two hours before starting to paint again. Additionally, she also shared that “You can only use the paint when it’s above 10 degrees [Celsius] (50-degree Fahrenheit), under [it] and it doesn’t cure properly.”
“You also have to ensure it doesn’t rain for 48 hours, this is why it took us 4 weekends as we had to ensure the weather was right,” Ellie continued.
To further accentuate the look of the house, Ellie placed plants she bought from a Home Bargains store into B&M pots. For the final touches, Ellie used white spar decorative stones and solar lights in front of the house, giving it a beautiful effect at night.
After Ellie finished her DIY project, she posted images of her transformed house on a budget group on Facebook and said “people didn’t believe it was the same house.”
She admitted that it’s been two months and “there are no scratches or damage.”
Social media users immediately took to the comments section to praise Ellie for her efforts, sharing that it was amazing. Meanwhile, her efforts have inspired others to paint and transform their own houses.
