A New Orleans woman loves birthdays so much, she has started “The Birthday Cake Project.” Louise Neal, 23, is taking on the task of baking 30 cakes for 30 random strangers celebrating birthdays each day in June. She loves birthday’s and describes it as a chance to celebrate oneself, one can just take this one day and really treasure it. She remembers that as she grew up she always had a homemade birthday cake and wanted to spread this to others, this is how the birthday cake project was born. She asked people to put in their cake requests online and was overwhelmed with hundreds of random strangers wanting a cake to celebrate their birthday. All the cakes are custom made with the choice of frosting being either vanilla or chocolate from a choice of three frostings. She is also very excited about her sprinkle collection and owns quite a variety of them, but the number one ingredient as she describes in all her cakes is a pinch of love. The birthday cake project means a lot more to Louise, rather than just delivering cakes. She documents each delivery with photos and interviews. The most interesting thing she believes about birthday’s is that they reveal their family background, aging, and the way they treat or celebrate themselves. One cake at a time she is really making birthday wishes come true.
