It was just another typical morning for the Mayor of East Gippsland Shire Council in Victoria, Australia.
While driving on his way to work, Mayor Joe Rettino saw a koala in the middle of the road.
The koala was not moving, so Rettino decided to stop and attempt to encourage the koala off the road.
As he got closer, Rettino realised that it was not just one but two koalas he had spotted – a mother and her joey.
Fortunately, both the koalas were cooperative and Rettino was able to see them safely across the road.
For those not lucky enough to work or live in the area, the Gippsland region has a lot to offer visitors. Apart from being home to a lot of koalas, it also hosts a diversity of other wildlife and numerous national parks to explore.
