Kanye West and Jay Z’s hip-hop collaboration has resulted in the release of the much-anticipated “Watch the Throne” album, and it is expected to take the hip-hop scene by storm. Billboard reported that minutes after the album was digitally released on Monday at 12 a.m. EDT, fans of West and Jay Z flocked to iTunes to register a huge number of downloads.
Fans posted lyrics of the 12 tracks almost as soon as they were able to download the songs. The two artists later managed to restrain the posts, according to Billboard magazine.
The gilded look of the album cover tells consumers much about the reputation and respect that the two rappers have in the music business. Jay-Z is the proud owner of 13 Grammy Awards, a clothing line, a recording label and holds the record for the most number one albums as a solo artist on the Billboard 200.
Kanye West and Jay-Z have been friends ever since West entered the music industry as a producer in Jay-Z’s record label, Roc-A-Fella Records. West later introduced his own label, and as a rapper and singer owns five platinum albums and 14 Grammy Awards.
The duo have already announced tour dates for a North American “Watch the Throne” Tour, and fans are already lining up to get tickets, either at physical locations or virtually. The first stop of the tour is set to be in Atlanta, GA at the Philips Arena on October 29th. The complete tour schedule for the “Watch the Throne” tour is now available at the official website.
