There is a reason why New York is called the global capital of the auction market. With numerous auction houses to choose from and regular sales ongoing, New Yorkers are often spoiled with choices.

Doyle New York, founded in 1962, is one of the city’s leading auctioneers in fine art, jewelry, furniture, and decorations. It holds about 40 sales each year, attracting buyers from around the world.

There are three auctions coming up at Doyle New York during March and April that caught my eye.

The popular Doyle at Home auction is back on March 9 with a range of diverse pieces, including elegant furniture and decorations, as well as attractive works of art from prestigious estates and collections around the country.

On April 5, Doyle will be showcasing American furniture and decorative arts from the Colonial period to the Federal and Classical styles. Paintings and prints, rugs, silver, and Chinese export porcelain will also be up for sale, according to the website.

A painting called “Hudson River Highlands,” by Robert Havell Jr., 1793–1878, is sure to garner a lot of interest, with an estimated value of $10,000–$15,000.

If you are interested in jewelry, then head down to Doyle on April 13 to view some dazzling pieces. This auction will be graced by some unique pieces spanning the antique, Victorian, Edwardian, art nouveau, art deco, and modern eras, as well as fine watches and objets de vertu.

A gold-and-diamond ring of high clarity and color, with a modern setting, estimated at $40,000–60,000, is sure to attract many admiring eyes. And the perfect accompaniment is a pair of diamond pendant earrings, classic for any black-tie evening event. Estimated price is $30,000–$40,000.
