Top Takeaways From Tripadvisor’s List of World’s Best Beaches

Travel guidance platform Tripadvisor unveiled its Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Beaches of 2025, revealing travelers’ favorite beaches around the world, based on quality and number of reviews for the beaches on Tripadvisor’s website.

The best beach in the world this year according to those who’ve visited is Elafonissi Beach in Crete, Greece. The beautiful and remote beach offers warm pink sand and clear blue water. While it gets crowded in the summer months, May and September offer greater opportunities to enjoy the beach without the crowds.

“Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards uniquely reflect the voices of millions of global travelers and help guide people to plan their best trip yet. In my family, beaches aren’t just for sunbathing—we like to get out and explore! The diversity of this year’s winners really showcases everything that a beach trip can have to offer, said Kristen Dalton, President, Tripadvisor.

“Whether it’s strolling the beautiful pink sand beaches of our world winner, Elafonissi beach, in Greece, experiencing breathtaking vistas in Indonesia, whale watching in Hawaii or diving in magical bioluminescent waters in Thailand—there really is something for everyone. This year’s lists span an incredible six continents and 50 countries with over 100 of the very best beaches showcasing the eclectic mix of coastal spots across the world.”

The other most popular beaches in the world include:

• Banana Beach in Phuket, Thailand
• Eagle Beach in Oranjestad, Aruba
• Siesta Beach in Siesta Key, Florida
• Praia da Falésia in Algarve, Portugal
• Playa Varadero in Varadero, Cuba
• Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
• Playa de Muro Beach in Mallorca, Spain
• Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Indonesia
• Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia, Greece

In the United States, Siesta Beach reigns supreme, taking first this year for its white quartz sand, shallow waters and large, family-centric vibe. It ranked second in last year’s list. Another happy surprise: Hawaii is the destination with the most beaches ranked on the list, with five out of 10 of the most-loved beaches on Tripadvisor, showing that those who visit Hawaii are some of the happiest beachgoers in the nation.

• Ka’anapali Beach in Maui, Hawaii
• La Jolla Cove in La Jolla, California
• Waikiki Beach in Oahu, Hawaii
• Clearwater Beach in Clearwater, Florida
• Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island, Georgia
• Punalu’u Black Sand Beach in Pahala, Hawaii
• Bahia Honda State Park in Big Pine Key, Florida
• Ho’okipa Beach Park in Maui, Hawaii
