A hot dog from Tokyo Dog in Seattle has been crowned the world’s most expensive hot dog by the Guinness World Records. They called it the Junni Ban. And it’s definitely not cheap: this hotdog costs $169 for a 12- inch dog.
The ingredients for the Juuni Ban are totally different from a traditional hot dog where toppings normally consist of mustard and ketchup. The Junni Ban is made with smoked cheese bratwurst topped with butter-teriyaki grilled onions, maitake mushrooms, wagyu beef, foie gras (goose liver), shaved black truffles, caviar, and Japanese mayo on a brioche bun. A rich combo indeed.
Alan Chang, from California, was the first person of five to officially buy this $169 hot dog. Tokyo Dog made a total of $ 1,014 and donated it all to the American Red Cross.
Eugene Woo, co-owner of Tokyo Dog, said that it took a lot of planning to make the Junni Ban because Guinness World Records has a set list of rules that have to be followed. For example, the first rule is that the hot dog must be edible. In the end, this $169 concoction was clearly a success.
The Juuni Ban is now available on the menu at $169, but it must be ordered two weeks in advance in order to get it.
