Nuggets are no longer limited to chicken.
The Nugget Spot, located on 14th Street in the East Village, sells chicken, pork and catfish, and mozzarella nuggets. Its the first specialty nugget restaurant.
There’s the Potatopia in the West Village, a potato specialty restaurant that sells variations of potatoes dishes and fries on their menu. It only seems natural that there should be a nugget restaurant.
Although the Nugget Spot’s menu mainly features nuggets, there’s no shortage of sauces or toppings.
The nuggets are hormone-free, served with homemade dipping sauces with original flavors such as Mumbo, Wasabi Mayo, Nacho-Queso, and a secret recipe which the chef calls the “Shhh Sauce.”
Toppings include Italian breadcrumbs, Southern-fried coating, corn tortilla, and panko.
“We re-imagined what the nugget could be, refined it, elevated it, and made one of America’s favorite foods better than you’ve ever remembered,” chef and owner Jason Hairston said in a statement.
Hairston created the concept after working as executive sous-chef at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill.
The restaurant’s capacity is 30. Delivery and catering are coming soon.
