Singer-songwriter Misty Posey is best known for her comforting, angelic voice. Her pitch perfect vocals have garnered her awards and dedicated fans since she released her self-titled debut album in 2018.
Even more impressive than her memorable voice is the unique path she’s carved out for herself in the music world. Through her love of Irish music, training in classical voice, and keen ability to bring the two traditional musical formats into contemporary times, she’s created a subgenre practically all her own. In her original music and live performances, she introduces audiences to her distinctive “Celtic-classical crossover” sound.

Inspired by Nature

Ms. Posey began her professional career during her college days as a voice and music major. The soprano studied a wide range of artistic subjects in order to become a well-rounded artist herself, spending years immersed in classical voice training, general music studies, and literary writing courses.

The knowledge she gained served her well as she embarked on a series of shows along the Celtic festival circuit in the Lone Star State. As she developed a name for herself, fans began calling her “Texas’s Celtic Woman.”

She soon spread her wings, performing shows in Ireland, Wales, and Scotland.

As she maintained a rigorous travel and touring schedule, she also booked studio time. Her recordings stay true to the nickname her fans gave her, as well as her classical training. Her original music is as mesmerizing as her renditions of traditional Scottish and Irish songs on her second album, succinctly titled “Celtic.”

Traditional works of Celtic and classical music, like Ireland’s timeless sea shanties or Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” have deep ties to the things that inspire her today. When interviewing Ms. Posey about what inspires the music she creates, her answer is both poignantly poetic and introspective:

“Nature, more than anything—it seems to make us and everything more real as if it holds our secrets in its existence. It holds our past and any hope of a future. … The goodness in all of our lives is in it.”

With a full setlist of recorded songs, Misty traveled the world on a two-year tour in 2019 and 2020. One of those shows was a dream come true for the seasoned performer.

A self-described, passionate “movie-lover,” the vocalist was honored when she was invited by Florida’s Space Coast Symphony Orchestra to sing selected musical works from the classic film “Titanic” for the organization’s At The Movies Concert Series.

When asked about her fondest memories of her music career, she listed this experience as a definite “favorite,” describing the solo performance:

“Letting my high notes go strong and full along with all the instruments was so much different than singing with fewer instruments, and speaking with audience members afterwards, I found their overwhelming praise of this moment in the song to be inspiring.”

The symphony orchestra invited her back to perform fellow soprano Sandi Patty’s rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” for their Fourth of July Concert Series.

A Dance in Her Step

Since the release of her debut album, Posey has enjoyed a kinship with her listeners. Her fans are continuously inspired by her music that honors the beauty of nature, classical traditions, and the wisdom of the past. With her mesmerizing voice and songs, she seamlessly fuses Celtic roots music with classical vocal stylings.

Ms. Posey is now hard at work creating a new album featuring both her own songs and readings of poetry that were inspired by her enchanting music. Once that’s complete, she will hit the road again, embarking on another tour that will bring her Celtic-classical crossover stylings to familiar faces and new fans alike.

The music motto she lives by is rooted in the romanticism listeners find in her music. As she continues to chart her own path independently in the field of contemporary music, as her saying goes, she places importance on “moments, heart, timelessness, and a dance in my step.”
