Taste Asia Festivities in Times Square: Live Broadcast June 25-26

NEW YORK—Taste Asia, the month-long celebration of Asian culinary culture culminates in a great food festival at Times Square on June 25-26. The two-day event features Asian culinary culture on the first day, and the final round of the 6th International Chinese Culinary Competition on the second day.

This event is free and open to the public, so come join the festivities! Food booths hosted by Asian restaurants around New York City will be open to the public starting at 11:00 a.m on both days.

Location: Times Square – 43rd & Broadway

Live Broadcast:
June 25th, 12 pm - 10 pm
June 26th, 12 pm - 8:30 pm

Starting at noon on June 25, Asian celebrity chefs and performing artists will perform on Taste Asia’s center stage. Highlights include:

  • Japanese Taiko drum performance (by Hiro Kurashima)

  • Making of soba (by Shuichi Kotani)

  • Traditional Korean dance (by KTMDI of NY)

  • Making of a Taiwan Hakka sticky rice treat: mochi

  • Making of Chinese and Korean hand-pulled noodle

  • Traditional Indian dance

  • Dumpling making and eating contest

Visitors to Times Square will get a chance to participate in a number of these events, and experience the making of traditional Asian food.

On June 26, finalists from around the world will fire up the woks to compete for the gold in NTD Television’s 6th International Chinese Culinary Competition. Spectators will witness the making of—and even get a chance to taste—the absolute best dishes from China’s five most loved cuisine categories:

  • Szechuan cuisine, known for its fiery spiciness

  • Cantonese cuisine, the most well-known Chinese cuisine style

  • Shandong cuisine, considered the cradle of Chinese cuisine

  • Huaiyang cuisine, known for its delicate taste and demand on technique

  • Northeastern cuisine, the earthiest and hearty cuisine
