A transcendent dawn stretches brilliantly over Los Angeles. It settles into a golden sky before melting into a night tinged by the fluorescence of city lights.
Filmmaker Gavin Heffernan uses time-lapse, capturing the fast-moving metropolis while pacing the action to a steady, peaceful rhythm. You feel as though you’re drifting through a Friday night—in the midst of the city’s excitement, yet laid back, observing.
The buildings’ illuminated windows twinkle and fade in and out like stars. Pale dawn quickly passes into another twilight and the glow of a neon sign.
The story ends with what feels like a Monday morning commute—it’s as though a weekend in L.A. has swept over you in about 2 minutes.
