WASHINGTON D.C.—Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing in Washington D.C. once again at the Kennedy Center. They will be performing six shows from August 26 to 30.
Xiang Dong, the chairman of New Tang Dynasty Television D.C. Office, said that in February, Shen Yun Performing Arts performed six shows at the Kennedy Center. The average occupancy rate was almost 94 percent and the Saturday shows were all sold out and standing room only tickets were sold for the evening show.
Xiang Dong said, “This is a rare situation even for the Kennedy Center. Since the financial crisis, artistic shows have been greatly reduced. Many Broadway show associations have been forced to shut down or have gone bankrupt. However, Shen Yun Performing Arts gave a very successful performance at the Kennedy Center this February, which was quite a surprise to the theatre. After the performance, most employees at the Kennedy Center gave great reviews of the show.”
Xiang Dong believes that there are two main reasons for Shen Yun’s return to the Kennedy Center: The first reason is that ticket sales have been so great; there were hardly any empty seats, especially for the weekend shows. The second reason is that the employees at the Kennedy Center have seen how amazing Shen Yun is, as it takes a world-class company to perform at the Kennedy Center.
Xiang Dong said that the shows that will take place in August at the Kennedy Center and will be a collection of the best pieces from the last few years of Shen Yun performances. The show will again intrigue and touch the audience members.
He said also that, from seeing the ticket sales of February’s show, one can see that the more expensive tickets and the best seats sell out quickly. The news of Shen Yun spreads quickly by word of mouth, so August’s shows will probably also be quite full. He reminds the audience members, “Buy your tickets early to get a good seat.”
