STOCKHOLM, Sweden—On April 5, 2010, Shen Yun Performing Arts will appear in Sweden for the third consecutive year, with an entirely new program of dances, songs and musical scores. The world’s most acclaimed show with traditional Chinese dance and music will take the stage of the 18th century heritage theater, Cirkus on April 5 and 6 in Stockholm, and the Konsert & Kongress hall on April 8 in Linkoping. Swedish celebrated artists and officials who have experienced the charm of the show are looking forward to the return of Shen Yun.

Shen Yun has its base in New York, and aims to revive genuine traditional Chinese culture after decades of suppression by the communist regime in China. With masterful choreography, brilliant dancers and singers, gorgeous costumes, beautiful animated backdrops and the Chinese-Western-combined orchestra, the company presents classical Chinese dance and music in a gloriously colorful and exhilarating performance.

Film Director Welcomes Shen Yun

Solveig Ternstrom, actress, script writer and film director speaks warmly of show. Since 2006, she is also a Member of Parliament. Together with fellow MP Eva Selin-Lindgren, she wrote in their welcome message to Shen Yun:

“Shen Yun Performing Arts presents classical Chinese dance and music in a lavishly colorful and exhilarating show. It brings together over a hundred of the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, choreographers, musicians and backdrop technicians. Ancient legends of virtue and modern tales of courage are brought to life by dances and songs, taking us on a journey through ancient China and China today. It is really a good chance for us Swedes to learn more about China and traditional Chinese culture.”

Taipei Mission: ‘It is a rare opportunity’

Taipei Mission’s representative in Sweden, Abraham Wen-shang Chu said in his greetings that the wonderful performances of Shen Yun bring us the essence of a culture with roots from thousands of years, depicting ethical values and peace.

“It is a rare opportunity for enjoying such an appealing and fascinating performance and it fills me with indescribable joy,” he said in his message.

In the graceful movements like rippling water and in the powerful leaps, they convey the cultural wealth of their country. A wonderful treasure! Music director, Birgitta Wensheim gladly welcomes the return of Shen Yun to Sweden this year.

“It is a privilege to be able to, once again, experience here at home, the five-millennium traditional Chinese dance and music in my homeland, Sweden. I was filled with great compassion, love and warmth.

“At the show last year, I was amazed by the stunning colors, costumes and lights that enhanced their extraordinary artistic achievements. It is a wonderful experience in many aspects! But the great joy and intensity displayed by all the artists did not hide the seriousness behind the show. I am confident that this year’s show will be very fantastic as well.”

Last but not least, members of Swedish Parliament, Andreas Norlen, Gunnar Axen, Betty Malmberg, Finn Bengtsson, Staffan Danielsson, Karin Granbom Ellison and Yvonne Andersson rejoice over the return of Shen Yun Performing Arts 2010.
