MILWAUKEE—Those attending the first Shen Yun performance at the Milwaukee Theater on Friday, April 23, were delighted with the show. Terry Kranz, a graphic arts designer from Milwaukee, said, “I enjoyed the color, I enjoyed the dancing, and the singing–very much so.”

The New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Company with its elaborate costumes, stunning projections, world-class vocalists and dancers, aims to enchant viewers with a presentation of ultimate beauty.

“The show was wonderful—from the past, the color, the history, the impression it gave,” Mr. Kranz said.

Becky Phoneprasith, a nurse’s aid from Westellis Wisconsin was attending the show as well and enjoyed its majestic appeal.

“I like it, it’s very good–very elegant,” she said at intermission.

Specializing in classical Chinese dance, the dancers perform synchronized patterns to express aspects of nature, perform aerial feats in the depiction of ancient Chinese legends, and emote genuine feelings to help express stories of current situations in China.

Mike Garver, a nursing assistant from Milwaukee was also in the audience and said he was “very impressed with Chinese culture.”

Throughout the show, state-of-the-art technology is used to project background scenes, portraying magnificent scenes of celestial realms and landscapes. Mr. Garver tells us through his eyes, “I’ve been impressed too with the spirituality“ and in one word described the show visually as being “colorful.”

Shen Yun’s International Company Orchestra combines both Eastern and Western instruments and creates a lush sound to compliment the dancers on stage.
