KEELUNG, Taiwan—“This is a high quality and a high level artistic performance. We have seldom had world-class shows like this performing in Keelung City,” said Mr. Zhang Jinjia, Director of the General Affairs Department of Keelung City Government, after he attended Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company’s premiere show at the Performance Hall of Keelung City on the evening of March 18.
The New York-based Shen Yun company’s mission is to revive authentic Chinese culture through the artistic performance of classical Chinese dance, singing and live music. Mr. Zhang said he enjoyed this kind of performing arts very much, adding, “All the artists of this group are so skillful that we can tell they have undergone a series of rigorous trainings. It is not easy to come by.”
He particularly appreciated the synchronization of the performance and the dynamic backdrops. He said, “The backdrops are very dynamic and exquisite. There are many things that I have not seen before.”
Mr. Zhang praised soprano Jiang Min and baritone Qu Yue, saying, “They were really great! Their songs are indeed very powerful. I think it is really not an easy thing to do. It is really very worthwhile for everyone to appreciate the performance together.”
Mr. Zhang believed that Shen Yun was not just a spectacular performance. “After watching the programs, I think I will have a deeper understanding of spiritual and physical life.”
He exclaimed, “This is indeed an international super-class artistic performance that is not easy to come by in one’s lifetime.” Fascinated by Shen Yun, Mr. Zhang remained at the venue for a long while after the performance ended. He expressed his hope that more art-loving friends would be able to appreciate the show. “I hope all people can have the opportunity to see the performance, regardless of whether they are in the public or the private sector,” he added.
He also expressed his hope that Shen Yun could be performed in all cities and counties in Taiwan, so that “more people can appreciate the show.”
