KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—The Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s 2010 premiere in Kaohsiung was presented to a full house at the Kaohsiung Cultural Center on the evening of March 30. Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chu said, “Kaohsiung City sincerely welcomes Shen Yun Performing Arts to bring a spectacular feast of arts and culture to the residents of Kaohsiung City.”
She continued with delight. “Every program is very unique and very wonderful, and the fascinating momentum fully drew the attention of the entire audience.
“In particular, we could see the dances of different minority ethnic groups, featuring various nations’ diverse cultural traits, such as Mongolian, Tibetan and those in Northwest Plateau in China. As a result, after attending this exquisite and spectacular performing arts show, I felt their performance was indeed exceptionally wonderful,” she added.
Fascinated by the dance, she praised the dancers, “In the meantime, I found that there were many young artists and dancers in the program. Their movements were so beautiful and so quick, demonstrating female’s gracefulness and elegance as well as male’s masculinity and strength. It fully showed that they have undergone a lot of exquisite and professional trainings.”
The Mayor further expressed, “Multi-cultural performances like this are always welcome to perform in Kaohsiung. Shen Yun’s dance fully illustrated the various difficulties that Falun Gong has encountered during the process of promotion. Through the entire dance show, we could fully understand (the plight).
“As Kaohsiung is metropolitan city that has attached much importance to human rights, and has devoted to the protection of human rights and the respect for diverse cultures, Shen Yun and Falun Gong can fully enjoy the freedom of expression in Kaohsiung,” she continued.
In conclusion, Ms. Chen emphasized that the value of art lies in the fact that it transcends belief, race, territory and political party, ushering in a common realm of beauty for human.
