HOUSTON-Shen Yun Performing Arts opened in Houston to a sold-out audience in Jones Hall on Monday, Dec. 21.
Mr. Mulvany, a theater technician, and his wife were drawn to the show because of their love for “all things international.
“I loved it,” Mr. Mulvany said. “The costuming was wonderful, the dances were great, I loved the music.”
Mr. Mulvany works at the Alley Theater across from Jones Hall where the New York-based Shen Yun performance was held. He learned about the show by seeing the advertisements driving to work and decided to come and see it.
Mrs. Mulvany had also heard about the show from other sources, and as a teacher of international students at the University of Houston, she was very interested in attending the show.
“If it’s about culture, I love to go,” she said. “I thought it was a great representation of Chinese culture. I don’t know if everyone expected it or was surprised, but it was great.
“Energetic and exciting-it was great,” she said. “I loved the energy.”
Mr. Mulvany commended the techniques in the show and appreciated the special effects used.
“I thought it was really good. I loved the fog effect,” he said.
Shen Yun will be holding two more shows in Houston on Dec 22 and 23. For more information, please visit Shenyunperformingarts.org/houston
