HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mr. Toshihiko, now an 80 year old, was a Hiroshima Prefecture Assembly member some 20 year ago. He attended the Shen Yun Performing Arts’ show for the first time at Hiroshima ALSOK Hall on March 12, 2010. He was deeply touched by the superb show.
Mr. Ishikawa felt he had a predestined relationship with China. About 20 years ago when he was a member of the Prefecture Assembly, he got appendicitis during a business trip in China’s Chongqing City. He was admitted to a hospital in Suzhou to have his appendix removed. Since then, Mr. Toshihiko and his wife have been to China many times, and have visited many places across China. He still vividly remembered the Chinese minority folk dance he saw in Kunming City.
After watching the New York based Shen Yun, Mr. Ishikawa said happily, “The show has rich and vibrant colors. The dancers’ movements were extraordinarily tender, with excellent coordination. It was really very beautiful!”
Mrs. Ishikawa especially praised the program In a Miao Village. She said, “Their costumes were really very beautiful.” Mr. Ishikawa repeatedly nodded his head to echo his wife’s comments, and said, “It was really nostalgic.”
Mrs. Ishikawa also acclaimed the dynamic backdrops and the live orchestra. “Backdrops were very spacious, gorgeous and creative …The Shen Yun orchestra’s performance was excellent. It was really wonderful to hear the music played by the live orchestra,” she added.
Because Mrs. Ishikawa had picked up some Chinese, she said, “In appreciation of the songs, the Chinese subtitles on the backdrops unexpectedly reminded me of the pronunciation of those Chinese characters. Because there were Japanese and Chinese subtitles on the screen, I had no problem understanding the content of the lyrics.”
Mr. Ishikawa’s reminisced on his relationship with China. He said time and again, “It was really reminiscent of many things taking place in the past. The programs seemingly brought me back to my spiritual hometown.”
Finally, Mr. Ishikawa and his wife expressed with tears in their eyes, “The Shen Yun show was indeed superb and touching.” They added that they wanted to see the show again next year.
