BREGENZ, Austria–The Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company performed for the first time in Bregenz, a beautiful city, located on the eastern shore of Lake Constance, the third-largest freshwater lake in Central Europe. Bregenz is the capital of Austria’s most Western state Vorarlberg.

The Bregenzer Festspielhaus (Festival House), with its newly renovated large hall of dark acacia wood and red chairs exudes elegance, the perfect venue for the renowned Shen Yun Company. This venue prides itself with its floating stage equipped with every conceivable technical innovation.

The audience was looking forward to seeing a traditional Chinese culture show, presented through dance, song, and music. The fliers had promised stories of old and modern China, many handed down through folklore, which seeks to breathe new life into traditional Chinese culture.

The Shen Yun Touring Company Orchestra includes musicians who play original music using Eastern and Western instruments.

Along with the orchestra, Shen Yun uses state-of-the art backdrops, where digital pictures of China’s landscapes highlights every one of the many dances.

The audience was receptive to a cultural show that had not visited their area before. Just as during all its tours, the audience honored the performers with standing ovations, resounding applause throughout the show, and four curtain calls just before the last curtain fell for the evening.

“The show presented Chinese dance and stories, which was very appealing and pleasant to watch,” said Dieter Dörflinger, head of the procurement department at BASF, the world’s leading chemical company.

He was impressed with the orchestra and said that the music he heard would remain in his mind for a while to come.

“The music is totally different and is very pleasing to the ears. I really enjoyed it. It is something that one does not forget easily.”

He also said, “the interaction between the backdrop, the dances, the colors and costumes was fantastic. I absolutely loved the show.”

Werner Fellner, head of the general counsel at the Vorarlberg Economic Chamber of Commerce and his wife, Dr. Gerhild Fellner, counsel for a city accounting division, also attended the show.

“The show is very impressive,” said Ms. Fellner.

She added, “The dance, the jewelry, the artists and the choreography–all conveyed happiness and cheerfulness, which is very good.”
