PHILADELPHIA—Ms. Segal, a psychologist from Philadelphia, attended last year’s show at the Merriam Theater and enjoyed this year’s performance even more. “It was ... always moving and the pageantry is beyond belief.”
“I thought the use of the multimedia [backdrops] was even more moving this year than last year. More people should be able to see it.”
Ms. Segal said she wants to bring more of her friends, especially her sister, to see the show. She particularly liked the funny characters. But she thought the little girl in the dance “Persecuted on a Sacred Path” was “wonderful.”
“Each piece has something important and moving to say. And you can get the message on any level. And I think that’s intentional of course. I take it mostly on the spiritual level ...”
Segal sees many spiritual levels. “It’s all about oppression versus freedom and humanity—and that’s the level on which I take it. And the everlasting nature of certain conflicts always with the hope that good and liberty will triumph. That’s what I get. We’re working on it each in our own way.”
