The New York Philharmonic gave its landmark 15,000th concert on Wednesday night in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Valery Gergiev conducted with soloist Denis Matsuev.
The Philharmonic holds a Guinness World Record for most performances by a symphony orchestra.
Since its inception in 1842 an estimated 46,835,718 people have heard the orchestra live and 1,590 musicians have served as members of the orchestra throughout its history.
