OTTAWA—The opportunity to “get a feel” for Chinese culture brought a Royal Canadian Mountain Police officer and his wife, to see the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour presentation, held at the National Arts Centre, Southam Hall in Ottawa.

“I am really enjoying it so far,” the officer said at intermission. “I liked the dancing and individual singing too, lots of talent. I’m sure it takes a lot of practice.”

Traditional Chinese culture was brought to life in an array of song, dance, music and folk tales performed by a range of artists, soloists and musicians.

“The Chinese culture, I’m sure, goes way back in time ... there has been an evolution and, like a lot of other cultures, tries to maintain and restore [historical values] so new generations can appreciate and enjoy it.”

His wife said she was most impressed and was looking forward to the second half.

“It is fantastic, the costumes are gorgeous. I liked the dancing, it is like a very close knit culture. I was particularly moved by the last performance of the family—it was quite touching.”
