New Tang Dynasty (NTD) Television is set to make history by hosting the inaugural “Global Chinese Beauty Pageant.” Following a rigorous international audition and interview process, 40 distinguished contestants of Chinese heritage have been selected. The grand finale is slated for Sept. 30 at the Performing Arts Center of Purchase College, part of the State University of New York.

The pageant aims to provide a platform for contestants to showcase their understanding and appreciation of traditional feminine virtues.

The event has garnered sponsorship from Green Eastern, a U.S.-based company specializing in natural enzyme detox beauty products, which resonates with the pageant’s ethos.
The coveted “Miss NTD” crown, designed with intricate craftsmanship, features five sapphires and vividly colored phoenix motifs. These elements symbolize the five cardinal qualities in Chinese culture: virtue, righteousness, propriety, benevolence, and integrity.

Lucy Zhou, the General Manager of the pageant, expressed that the event marks the beginning of a new era in beauty pageants. She emphasized its focus on elevating and celebrating purity, kindness, and beauty among Chinese women, making it an avenue to display traditional feminine grace and propagate traditional Chinese culture.

Dao Xia, a respected columnist for The Epoch Times, lauded the NTD Beauty Pageant for its nuanced and enriching perspective on beauty. In her column, she remarked that the event gains even more significance in today’s pandemic-ridden landscape by not solely spotlighting physical beauty but also inner virtues.

Event Sponsor: Green Eastern

Founded in Hong Kong in 2016 and recently relocating its headquarters to the United States in 2023, Green Eastern is among the event’s prominent sponsors. The company is dedicated to advocating traditional views on health and wellness through its range of natural products. Despite operating in the challenging market conditions of Hong Kong, their unique offerings have carved a niche for themselves.

Winnie, the Vice President of Green Eastern, elucidated the company’s philosophy, which closely aligns with the pageant’s standards. She discussed how historical figures in China, such as Empress Dowager Cixi of the Qing dynasty, utilized natural remedies tailored to their individual needs. For instance, Cixi employed an ancient natural formula known as “Yurong San” to address facial dark spots.

In alignment with the pageant’s objectives, Green Eastern will feature two flagship products from their Enzyme Facial Series—the Detox Gel and Radiance Renewal Cream. These products, rich in natural enzyme ingredients, promise to rejuvenate the skin through detoxification channels like acupuncture points.

Diverging from conventional beauty pageants, this event will not include a swimsuit competition, adhering to a more dignified portrayal of female beauty. The contestants have widely applauded this decision. Winnie opined that the pageant’s unique approach serves as a genuine testament to the inherent elegance and beauty of Eastern women.

The grand finale will take place on Sept. 30, starting at 6.30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center of Purchase College, part of the State University of New York.
