Most of us trim our nails using clippers, manicurists or even our teeth. But not Shridhar Chillal from the state of Maharashtra in India. He just lets them grow and grow—on his left hand at least.
And now the Guinness World Records has officially awarded him the distinction of being the person with the “Longest fingernails on a single hand ever.”
Chillal hasn’t trimmed his left hand’s nails since 1952—that’s 62 years of growth. In fact, the last time he cut his nails, the Guinness Book of World records hadn’t even been published.
After all those years of refusing to trim, his nails measure out to 358.1 inches in total. If Chillal suddenly got a hankering for a manicure, that would need quite a large group of people.
