A man has purchased a used Fiat 500 Lounge Hatchback, which was used by Pope Francis during his visit to the United States, for $300,000 at a charity event, ABC News reports.
Businessman Miles Nadal purchased the “Popemobile” at Charitybuzz, which works with CEOs and celebrities to raise money for those in need.
“I’ve followed Charitybuzz for a long time and have had unbelievable experiences with them,” Nadal told ABC News. “I look for iconic, one-of-a-kind cars and thought this would be a cool conversation piece to have.”
Nadal is a renowned car collector who owns a fleet of 130 cars and motorcycles.
The money will go toward Catholic schools and charities, and Nadal will get to meet Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who will bless the car.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Nadal said of his planned encounter with the cardinal. “It will be a unique experience.”
