Baby-faced singer Justin Bieber was among the highlights at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, playing a three song performance highlighted by a drum solo, and then winning the Best New Artist award.
Bieber was spotted a few days before the big awards night, riding in the back of a retro Cadillac, coming to and from rehearsal in Los Angeles.
His award for Best New Artist was for the video Baby, which features singer Ludacris. The youngster edged out other newcomers Jason Durulo, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, and newly formed band Broken Bells, which is a collaboration between James Mercer of The Shins and Danger Mouse.
An appreciative Bieber said “Wow” upon accepting the statuette shaped like an astronaut, and acknowledged his mentor Usher, and his fans.
