NEW YORK—“Just breathtaking,” Deborah B. Daniels said of Shen Yun Performing Arts‘ unique classical Chinese dance and music extravaganza, held at the prestigious Lincoln Center on Sunday afternoon, June 26.

“It was visually intoxicating. The use of color…you became at one with nature,” she said from the David H. Koch Theater. “I found myself trying to figure out if I could do the steps in my seat. They made it look so effortless. It was so gorgeous.”

Ms. Daniels works in publishing for the hospitality industry in New York. She attended the performance with a friend, Suzanne Sokolov, a publicist.

Ms. Solokov also commented on the inner beauty and energy exuding from the stage.

“Forceful and delicate at the same time, just the athletic ability. Deborah is right, it looked so effortless, and yet still maintaining a beautiful aesthetic quality. Not just purely doing spins and splits for the sake of spins and splits,” Ms. Solokov said.

“Just beautiful—real respect for traditional Chinese mythology, I’m sure, and culture. It was moving, the whole experience.”

Shen Yun portrays ancient Chinese culture in story-based dances from legends, folk stories, and contemporary times that leaves audiences all over the world in awe.

Both friends shared they had felt the show was “spiritually very pure. It has a purity about it that is inspiring,” one said.

“I thought about a dove when you said it, because it represents purity and freedom,” said the other.

New York-based Shen Yun seeks to revive China’s divinely-bestowed heritage lost to mankind from six decades of communist rule, and the appreciative applause and standing ovation were testament to the successful finale of the company’s 2011 World Tour.
