CHICAGO—“It was a very beautiful show,” said Marcela Toro. She caught the final presentation of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company this season at the Civic Opera House, Sun. April 24.

The graphic designer was accompanied by her eight-year-old niece who also expressed her amazement.

As a graphic designer Ms. Toro said she felt inspired by the New York-based Shen Yun’s presentation of classical Chinese dance and music, “Very inspirational, lots of color, lots of movement, a very wonderful show.”

Audiences world-wide have been amazed by the animated backdrops that transport them to another world. The hi-tech images lift the stage and set it amidst lush landscapes, deep forests or celestial paradises. Ms. Toro appreciated them and said, “It was spectacular. The actual graphics of how the dancers seemed to be flying off into the background, it was just amazing. It was really wonderful to see. I don’t know how to go into detail except to say that it’s something I’ve never seen before. I look forward to seeing more from the same company.”

She was impressed by the gorgeous, handmade costumes, and said, “Very bright, very vibrant. I thought it was very well put together, how the colors combined with each other. It was very wonderful!”

She elaborated, “I liked the costumes of the soldiers, the orange with the teal and how they combined the wonderful colors of the plum blossoms. They were just very ethereal, just very wonderful to see.”

In conclusion Ms. Toro said she was impressed by every aspect of the artistry of the world-renowned show, “It was great, exciting, and wonderful to see!”
