Color is usually the first thing people notice about you, says fashion and jewelry designer, Justine Leconte. Your choices can play an important part in emphasizing certain features. A simple color change is enough to give you a healthy, stunning glow. Follow her simple tips to achieve a celebrity-quality look anywhere you go!

Understanding the Color Wheel

Leconte recommends that the simplest way to achieve a great look is by matching your chosen garments with your skin undertone, cool colors for cool skintones and warm colors for warmer tones.
Blue, yellow, and red are the three primary colors or hues. Warm hues tend to be on one side, for instance red, yellow, and orange while cooler hues are on the opposite side such as green, blue, and purple.
Purple is considered a jewel tone by stylists because of its capability to blend with both warm and cool tones since it’s in between the color wheel. You can achieve different color hues depending on whether more warm or cool tones are added to it, says Leconte. For instance, if you add more blue to purple you get a darker purple, which is more cool-toned than if you were to add red which would make it a brighter purple. The warmer purple is best suited for individuals with warm undertones while the cooler purple hue is suited for cool undertones.
Leconte believes that choosing the right hue is an important decision for celebrity stylists as the right color outfit is essential in making sure their clients glow and look photo-ready on the red carpet. However, it’s not just reserved for celebrities. Follow Leconte’s style secrets and you too, can achieve that same glowy look!

Using Warm and Cool Hues

It’s simple to make a cohesive wardrobe using your favorite colors. It all comes down to adding more white or black to the hue to change its temperature and achieve slightly different tones.
Adding white or black to a hue doesn’t change its temperature but can create a successful color palette to use for fashion decisions, explains Leconte. The lighter shades in the hue will pair really well with white whereas the darker shades complement black. This is the simplest way to effortlessly achieve a harmnious outfit.
Even within a warm spectrum, Leconte says that people with warmer undertones will be more flattered by warmer hues. The same goes for cooler undertones.
