And since we’ve already touched on the holes in your shirts, here’s a tricky mind riddle for your brain that will leave you tearing off your shirt like Hulk Hogan in exasperation.
So, take a look at the illustration of a shirt with holes in it, below. You will notice that it has more than one hole in it; but here’s where the tricky part is—and believe me, there’s more to it than you might expect:
Before you scroll down to check the answer, look very closely, and take some time, because I’m telling you that there’s more to it than meets the eye. There are most likely more holes in the shirt than you thought, and you wouldn’t want to look like a fool by jumping the gun.
Thankfully, this is a multiple-choice question, because that will help you narrow down the possibilities. You can use deductive reasoning—which is what you will need to do. You can ponder over this all day if you like, but when you’re sure you have it, then please scroll down to see the answer at the bottom.
Ha! You correctly figured out that there are more than 2 holes in the shirt, because, although yes you can see 2 holes in the front, it’s plain to see that you can see right through the shirt. So, there must be at least 1 hole in the back, as well!
However, if you were paying attention, then you may have realized that this shirt has sleeves, a hole for the head, and a hole for your body, which means that there must be 4 additional holes. And so, if you add them all together you get 6, plus the hole in the back, which gives you 7 ... or does it?
But wait! It can’t be 7, because the multiple-choice answers are 2, 4, 6, and 8. Yet, perhaps you were keen enough to deduce the possibility that there might, in fact, be 2 holes in the back (not 1), and so the only possible answer must be 8!
