Oahu Hawaii is home to Haiku Stairs steep hiking trail better known as “Stairway to Heaven”.

The trail began as a wooden ladder spiked to the cliff on the south side of the Haiku Valley. In the 1950s, the wooden stairs were replaced by sections of metal steps and ramps. The trail was closed to the public in 1987 but that did not stop many hikers who continue seek out forbidden climb. If you passed the guard on duty the website hawaii.com says that nearly 4 000-step-climb is beyond difficult as it cuts through deep cliffs and hillsides not to mention the tropical and humid environment of the island.
