VIENNA, Austria—Green Party member Ms. Judith Schwentner took in the closing performance of the Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company performance in Vienna. She is the speaker for women and development policies and Green Representative for Austria, May 5.
The New York-based Shen Yun performers had come to Vienna to have the Viennese learn about China’s divinely inspired 5,000 year old culture not through storytelling, but through music, dance and song.
Ms. Schwentner was glad to have come to the Wiener Stadthalle to see the “hugely impressive, fascinating and unique” Shen Yun performance.
“What was so amazing were the many body movements and the entire body language, which gave me the impetus to learn more. Besides, it was harmonious and beautiful.”
It was her first contact with classical Chinese dance.
“Concerning my political work in the human rights committee, and concerning Falun Gong and Falun Dafa in Austria, the show was a vehicle to confront those dilemmas.”
“Although the messages the show conveyed were manifold, it was all done peaceably and hugely stirring. The message, the goings-on behind the scenes, how Falun Dafa followers have to endure suppression and worse from the Chinese regime, became quite clear. It is my duty as a politician to look into these things more closely and scrutinize the situation.”
But, it wasn’t just the modern times happenings in China Ms. Schwentner spoke off, she also had an eye for the stories from China’s ancient culture, handed own through folklore, telling of legends and ethnic traditions.
“I liked the costumes, especially those of the women. And the glorious colors, those color combinations are particularly nice.
“Ah, the three-dimensional backdrop was a winner, those movements and the metamorphosis into real figures from the backdrop, just beautiful.
“I will tell my family all about it and attend next year’s show along with them.”
