NEW YORK—Martha Flores-Vazquez, the Democratic district leader for the 22nd New York Assembly District in Flushing, returned for the fourth time to watch Shen Yun Performing Arts this Sunday afternoon. After a successful debut at the Lincoln Center this January, Shen Yun was invited back by the David H. Koch Theater to perform again.
“It’s amazing every time I come here. Just superb,” Flores-Vazques said.
Mrs. Flores-Vazques found the production not only beautiful but also saw an educational aspect of the performance. Shen Yun’s aim is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through dance and song.
“I just think that it’s very spiritual and every enlightening. I think education is the key to everything, so we’re learning here today,” Flores-Vazques said.
“It’s very detailed, it’s very customized ... it’s creative by hand and inner talent and the beauty of it is something to be exhibited around the world,” Flores-Vasquez said. Shen Yun’s three companies have been touring the world since 2006.
The community leader said that she would absolutely see the next show.
Every year, Shen Yun presents a new program of dances and songs with new choreography, costumes, and musical arrangements.
