Kailash Parbat has nearly 30 locations around the world, but the first U.S. outpost, which serves vegetarian Indian cuisine has just opened in Curry Hill.

Besides Punjabi and Indo-Chinese dishes, the restaurant features Sindhi specialties such as koki, a spiced and griddled Indian flatbread laced with onions, herbs, and chilies; or sai bhaji, a dish of spinach and lentils. A chaat bar in front lets diners make their own chaats. Longtime specialties include chole bhatura, a puffy fried Indian bread, with curried chickpeas and onions; and bhee ki tikki, or lotus root, served in a tangy sauce.
