Martial artists from 11 countries participated in the 8th NTD International Traditional Chinese Martial Arts Competition, taking part in a shared mission to revive martial virtue.
Preliminaries in Germany and Taiwan have already taken place, and on Aug. 31, preliminaries were held in New Jersey for 66 of the 91 total martial artists, with 79 semifinalists competing on Sept. 1.
Now 51 finalists will proceed to the next round on Sept. 2.
The competition is unique in its focus on only traditional Chinese martial arts styles and its mission to revive martial virtue, a code of conduct required of traditional martial artists.
It’s also part of a series of cultural events hosted by NTD, a sister outlet of The Epoch Times, to revive traditional culture. NTD, a New York-based global television network founded by Chinese Americans who fled communism, stands for New Tang Dynasty, a reference to the cultural golden age of ancient China.
