This week, we feature a couple of heartwarming dramas about forgiveness and redemption, and a Korean romance about an ex-fighter and a blind woman.

New Release

‘Miracle in East Texas’

During the Texas oil boom of the early 20th century, Dad Everett (John Ratzenberger) and Doc Boyd (Kevin Sorbo) are a pair of charlatans who con widows with their dry well scam. But after finding real black gold in a small town in eastern Texas, a booming economy isn’t the only positive change.

Although this movie was made on a relatively low budget, it punches above its weight in terms of production values. It also conveys some positive messages, such as how the power of forgiveness can have profound effects on those forgiven.

Family Pick

‘Seven Days in Utopia’

But instead of anger, he is met with Crawford’s kindness, which encourages him to take his life in a more positive direction.

This is a very inspirational film about how a little kindness, patience, and understanding can go a long way in helping others. This faith-based drama’s wholesome messages should appeal to just about everyone.

One of the things that this Korean film (with English subtitles) does right is provide endearing character development that makes you care about these people’s fates. The movie should elicit powerful emotions and is definitely a tissue-soaker.

This classic musical has plenty of snappy song-and-dance acts that are a joy to behold, and some all-around good acting.
