‘Match Me If You Can’

This buoyant rom-com stars Georgina Reilly as computer programmer Kip Parsons, who has been deemed unmatchable by a popular dating app. She rebels by blogging about her digital dismissal and in doing so, triggers a movement of others who feel rejected. Through her struggles, Kip might just find a romantic light at the end of the tunnel.

On its surface, this is a lighthearted tale about the search for love on dating apps. But it’s also relatable exploration of the quandaries of modern-day digital dating.

‘The Fox and the Hound’

In this animated Disney classic, a wild, young fox named Tod (Mickey Rooney) is adopted by the good-hearted Widow Tweed (Jeanette Nolan) and becomes friends with the neighbor’s hound dog Copper (Kurt Russell). But as they get older, Tod and Copper’s traditional roles of a hunter and prey threaten their friendship.

This is a heartwarming animated buddy tale that not only features charming cartoon characters but also carries a message about misjudging others. It packs quite an emotional impact leading to its dramatic conclusion.

A Cop Comedy From the ’80s

‘Beverly Hills Cop’

When his old friend is killed in Detroit, rambunctious cop Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) follows the murder suspects to Beverly Hills, California, and poses as a tourist. During the subsequent class of cultures, Foley falls afoul of slimy art dealer Victor Maitland (Steven Berkoff), as well as the entire Beverly Hills Police Department.

Eddie Murphy is side-splittingly hilarious in this humorous gem. It features tight direction and pacing, lots of action, and a nostalgic, head-bobbing soundtrack.

This ’60s classic features a witty script loaded with social commentary, beautiful costumes and sets, and outstanding music by Frederick Loewe.
