Eminem nabbed two Grammy Awards on Sunday night, including the Best Rap Album accolate for Recovery, marking the fourth time the hip-hop artist has won that category.
“OK, this is crazy,” Eminem said as he received his Best Rap Album Grammy trophy on stage.
In his acceptance speech, Eminem thanked his producers, Dr. Dre, the Shady Aftermath “family,” and Rihanna for “helping propel the album to where it is now.”
“What up Detroit! Stand up!” Eminem said as he stepped away from the microphone in a shout-out to his hometown. The rapper and songwriter teamed with Chrysler to feature the city of Detroit in a Super Bowl ad earlier this February.
Eminem also won Best Rap Solo Performance for “Not Afraid.”
The rapper was nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year Grammys for “Love The Way You Lie” in collaboration with Rihanna, and Album of the Year for Recovery.
Earlier in the night, rock band Train won the Grammy for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for its live rendition of “Hey, Soul Sister;” country singer Miranda Lambert won her first Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance; Muse’s Resistance won the Grammy for Best Rock Album; Lady Gaga won the award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album; Lady Antebellum took Song of the Year and Best Country Album; and Esperanza Spalding won the Grammy for Best New Artist.
The Grammy Awards, which telecast on CBS at 8 p.m. EST, are considered the most prestigious award of the American recording industry.
