NEW YORK—Mr. Galindo, director of education at a Manhattan college, was highly impressed by the Divine Performing Arts “Chinese New Year Splendor” which he attended on Saturday at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

“This is one of the best shows I have ever seen here in New York City,” he said. “Very inspirational; it has a lot of meaning.”

He said he especially enjoyed the message imparted by the show, which endeavors to revive the authentic ancient artistic traditions of China through classical Chinese dance and music.

“It goes straight to your spirit, and it makes you feel so happy, so relaxed, so much peace … Even though I am a Christian, my faith is the Christian faith, but I like this message here—it’s very inspirational.”

Mr. Galindo said that he would “definitely” recommend the show to his friends and students.

Mr. Weber, an assistant professor of internal medicine at a prestigious Connecticut university, also attended Saturday’s production. He called it “a spectacular show.”

“This is a tremendous performance,” he said. “The artists … captured the essence of China’s culture.”

Mr. Weber especially enjoyed The Mystical Phoenix and Dance of the Yi. One of southern China’s largest ethnic groups, the Yi people are known for their passion for music and dance. The female dancers in this piece swirl gracefully in silken rainbow-like skirts.

The vocal soloists—two sopranos and a tenor—also impressed Mr. Weber. Elite singers who perform throughout the year on many of the world’s great stages, the Divine Performing Arts soloists have been highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.

“It was a beautiful performance,” he said, adding that he has lived in Taiwan and visited many parts of mainland China in the past.

Divine Performing Arts is a New York-based performance company founded by leading Chinese artists is seeking to revive China’s traditional culture and present it to audiences around the world through Chinese classical dance and music.
