In a twist of fate, a police chase in Oregon ended when a suspect driving a stolen vehicle crashed into the driver of a second, unrelated stolen car, resulting in the arrest of both suspects.
The suspect led the officers on a chase through downtown Newberg; but it finally ended when the Land Cruiser crashed into a Buick Regal near E. Franklin & College St., about 20 miles southwest of Portland, where the officers took the suspect into custody.
Coincidentally, the police learned that the Buick Regal had also been stolen in a “completely unrelated” crime, and the driver of the sedan was then also apprehended.
The suspect driving the Toyota Land Cruiser was identified as 27-year-old Randy Lee Cooper from Portland. He was taken into custody for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude police, third-degree assault, reckless driving, and other related crimes, the release stated.
The second suspect driving the stolen Buick was identified as 25-year-old Kristin Nicole Begue from Newberg, who failed a sobriety test and was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
