TAICHUNG, Taiwan—Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company launched a five-day show at its third stop in Taiwan, Taichung.
At the Hui-Sun Auditorium on March 4, Taichung County Councilor Chen Niantian, who is also former principal of a high school, attended the premiere with his wife, an artist.
“The colorful and changing backdrops delivered a new visual experience,” he said.
“It’s not often that they come all the way from New York City. They should stage more shows. As an education promoter, I think culture is an investment. For example, programs such as The Monkey King Triumphs displayed the differences between good and evil in a quite humorous way—very educational. They should make more of these stories.
“DPA had many changing colors—they had all colors,” said Mr. Chen
He said that the government should promote the show and let the culture prevail.
DPA takes its inspiration from 5,000 years of Chinese culture and has many ethnic Chinese dancers and dances depicting Chinese myths and legends.
