SEOUL, South Korea—Divine Performing Arts (DPA) returns to South Korea for the third year. At the first of six shows on February 4 at Universal Arts Center in Seoul, there was Monk Man-Jong, a member of the Future Social and Religious Research Group.
“Sitting in the theater, the moment I saw DPA was the time I finally came to an ultimate understanding.”
He said that every part of the show is very touching. He enlightened to the reason why mankind exists in this world, how people should live, and he shows great gratitude for such a precious opportunity.
He said that the lyrics of the song by tenor Guimin Guan, Let Me Not Regret have very moving content. The song tells us that when we cannot find truth in this world, then life is rather meaningless.
“Especially the last piece, Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope, clearly tells us, the only way to be saved is to know the truth. We are all beings descended from the Heaven, yet we’ve been lost too deeply in this mundane world.
“The connection between the backdrops and the scenes on stage is very intricate. I am touched. It is hard to describe with words, but the processing of the deities descending from the backdrops, dancing on stage, then returning into the backdrops and ascending to the Heaven again is very great.
“Before I often think that Chinese music and dance are very old-fashioned. However, today I finally found the true meaning of life. I feel very content because of this,” he said.
In the DPA show, there aren’t only stories about the past, but also stories of courage depicting modern China. Among them is the piece Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution.
“Upon watching Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, I am very sad that kind people are persecuted. Yet their will is not deterred by the persecution and becomes even more determined to continue on the path of believing in Buddhas and Gods. This is a sacred and great path, so tribulations in this secular world are so small that it’s not even worth mentioning.”
Man-Jong has heard about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party before. He thinks that the persecution occurred because Falun Gong stand by the truth.
“Sometimes compassionate people are persecuted. It’s like strong plum blossom blooms fully even in the winter and the cold of winter makes people aware of deciduous evergreen pines. In this world, it is hard to behold the truth.”
The guiding mission of Divine Performing Arts is to rediscover and renew humanity’s true, rightful cultural heritage. The company thus creates and performs works that center upon the true, divinely bestowed culture of humankind, and seeks to provide an experience of consummate beauty and goodness.
