PHILADELPHIA—Pharmaceutical company owner Mr. Patel thought the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) show held at the Merriam Theater in Philadelphia was “absolutely divine and enchanting.”
“The beauty of Chinese traditional dance and the way they tie that with universal values of compassion, love for each other, and respect was something totally divine. Anyone coming to this show to enjoy, appreciate, and connect with the culture, is totally outstanding. I hope every year this continues.”
Mr. Patel said he was glad for the holidays, each year, when DPA comes to share its 5,000-year-old cultural traditions from ancient China - traditions often lost in today’s modern society.
Mr. Patel said he worked with many arts agencies and traditional Chinese dance companies, but had not seen anything like the DPA’s onstage performance.
‘Perfect’ for the Whole Family
Lawyer Jodi Hans found the perfect show to take her whole family to see. “We are having a great time. Every year around the holidays we bring the whole family to a show as a Christmas gift, and we needed something that would work for people from 6 to 80 years of age. This kind of event was perfect for that.”
Dance Therapist Enjoys Culture
Student Ms. Jenkins said she did not know of the unique and multi-faceted traditional Chinese culture, but now knows why she studied to be a dance therapist.
“I love learning about culture and ethnicity. It is a part of my thesis, so I am pleased with the performance. It is beautiful. All of the movements and the quality of the movements are beautiful. I am pleased with the quality.”
Diversity and Goodness
Pharmacist Ms. Vitali said: “The show was beautiful. I loved the art. The orchestra was great, and so was the introduction of the Chinese instruments. I loved the mixture of the culture and the art. Even though there is a difference in spiritual belief, I appreciate all of the messages that came through.”
