MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Many greetings and messages were sent to the Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour company before opening at the Orpheum Theater earlier this month.
They included Tennessee’s State Governor Phil Bredesen, and U.S. Member of Congress Steve Cohen, each issued their well-wishes by letter.
Mr. Bredesen congratulated the Divine Performing Arts on maintaining authentic traditional Chinese culture through its expression of classical dance, compassion and beauty.
“You are to be commended on all your efforts to foster understanding between Chinese and Western cultures. Memphis is honored to be able to host this event for the 3rd year in its history,” he wrote. “Again please accept my welcome and congratulations on these accomplishments. I wish you success in all of your future endeavors.”

The choreography, music, costumes, and backdrops come together to create a unique performance that reveals classical Chinese culture while simultaneously embracing modern influences.
Divine Performing Arts is committed to reviving the five-millennia-old artistic tradition of China and breathes new life into traditional Chinese culture so that audiences have a taste of truly sublime beauty that honors virtues and human dignity. I am privileged to share in supporting such a magnificent exhibition of cultural heritage.
I offer many thanks and sincere congratulations to Divine Performing Arts, New Times Culture and Education Center, the Southeast U.S. Falun Dafa Association, and all that have been involved in bringing the Chinese New Year Spectacular to our community.
